Historical fiction about World War 2 is not my thing at all, I think in large part because it feels like fiction could never do such a thing justice, but this is one of those rare instances where a book is so beautifully written that I'm just like dang.

I know a lot of people really loved this book and I can see why. It has a great story and has some very beautifully written moments. This book just didn't feel like the masterpiece that some people make it out to be, to me. I found the story to be a little slow and unexciting because it felt really clear after a certain point what was going to happen to the characters and how everything was going to come together. Great story simply written. A story of two kids who grew up at different place in the world.Filled of dream and hope. Unfortunately they are forced to put these dreams on the side because of the war and its effect. The story is quite moving, and as reader I couldn't put this book down until the last page.
