An excellent book about the human side of World War Two in Europe, in which the lives of two very different people and their families--one French, the other German--intersect.

Excellent writing. Great story. Sometimes I had a little trouble following , since it jumped back and forth in time. Now that I'm not under pressure to get it finished. I will go back and read some parts over again. Just to read the lyrical rhythm of the words. I would give it 4 1/2 stars. ...more
