I'll probably revise this later but for now, I will just say that the back cover of my edition of this book calls it "The Strangest Love Story Ever Told" and I have to concur. It is weird, creepy and frankly, not really a love story. It is more of a ghost story, or a tale of revenge and how it can destroy a person's soul. This started off good for me, and I thought I was going to really like it. But it just went more and more downhill as it went along. I hated every character, and didn't find it an enjoyable book to read. My copy of the book said "love never dies" on the front cover, which I found laughable, because I hardly felt affection from anyone towards anyone else, let alone love. I don't understand why this has been shelved so many times as a romance.

This was either rated 5 stars or 1 by my friends so it was a must read. I enjoyed the language and writing style. I hated the story. There were a few times when I almost had a glimpse of an"ah ha" moment when I could understand why someone would love this book but it never really came in to focus for me.

I don’t understand why I’d like to reread this book. Nothing particularly exciting happens. It’s about relationships between some very sick individuals and families. It’s about revenge. The writing is great. Enough detail and dialogue make it interesting and engaging.
