What Members Thought

I suspect this is the kind of book that people either love or hate, and not much in between. Death tells the story of a girl who steals books in Nazi Germany. Death tells it rather slowly and with so much metaphorical language that it's really irritating and extremely dull. An example: "Trust me, though, the words were on their way, and when they arrived, Leisel would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out like the rain." I have been waiting to read this book for a couple of years, since I was waaay down on the hold list on my digital library--finally got to read it this past week and it was very much worth the wait. Beautifully, uniquely written (narrated by death and follows a young German girl during WWII) and just amazing--loved it.
