Written in 1948, it’s clear that Orwell was ahead of his time when he wrote 1984, but I think this book is way overrated. Glad to have finally read this classic, but my goodness, it was a struggle. Not an enjoyable read for me.
No doubt that Orwell was a good philosopher, but as a storyteller in 1984, not so much (under developed characters, not enough plot). Didn't read like a story, it read like a political essay.
Very disturbing /depressing and I was very disappointed with the end.

Maybe audio was not a good choice for this book or maybe so many of the ideas (i.e. big brother) have been absorbed in to popular culture that it just seemed trite.
