My reaction when I finished reading chapter one was: "Ah... This book wasn't written for me".
Which is fine. I'm not the centre of the universe.
But Cline uses references rather than descriptions and I don't care enough to look each of these references up to be "immersed". At a certain point, it just feels like lazy world-building that is preying on the reader's nostalgia. A nostalgia that I don't have, for a time during which I wasn't alive.

Non sono una grande fan dei libri di genere sci-fi, però la copertina di questo libro mi ha incuriosita al punto di cercare qualche recensione online che mi ha convinta del tutto a leggerlo. Sono rimasta molto soddisfatta dalla narrazione e dal protagonista del romanzo. La trama forse non è delle più innovative ma sia le ambientazioni, sia i personaggi e le citazioni sono sublimi.
