Really more of a 3.5 for me. I enjoyed it very much and thought it was well constructed and well enough written, but found the ubiquity of the 80s pop culture references to be overbearing. LOVED this book. And I'm a little sad I didn't listen to the Wil Wheaton read version. I didn't so much read it as gulp it down, so maybe I can listen to it in the future.
The writing is OK, neither great nor poor, but the story is compelling and satisfying. It makes you want to be a gamer though, so if you don't have that addiction it might be better to avoid the book. ...more
