2.5 to 3 stars. Much too depressing and graphically violent for me.
Lived up to the hype. Well worth reading. Some parts pretty disturbing but a great book, heartbreaking and well written. Was really interesting finding out about the turmoil in Afganistan.
This is a beautifully written book. It is powerful, riveting, raw, and emotional. His writing is so descriptive, that he drew me in and I really felt like I was right beside these characters throughout the book. I finished this book last night at 1:30 AM. I just had to keep reading. The last 100 pages or so had me hooked. I had to know what was going to happen. This is an excellent book.
I liked this book for different reasons than I anticipated. I think the characters were not greatly developed, neither was the story. What I loved were the situations, events - and these were often so strongly written, they made up for weak writing in other areas. I loved it.
Good book but I really wanted a stronger ending.
