I can’t freaking tell you how much I liked this book. This was so, so awsome. So, Cress is a retelling of Rapunzel, one of my absolute favourites. And the cover is so beautiful!

I almost gave up on it because of the annoying romance parts but I'm curious to see how things work out.

I picked up this installment hoping that it would increase my interest in the series since it took a plunge after Scarlet. Unfortunately, such wasn’t the case. I enjoyed reading about the characters’ adventures and visiting the moon (though I didn’t see much of it), but the strong emphasis on the romance irked me. Honestly I don't feel like there's much I can say about this book without posting too many spoilers. I feel like The Lunar Chronicles has hit it's stride with this book. I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of reading this. With previous novels in the series I found them slow occasionally but I didn't find that at all with Cress.

Throughout the series I have really enjoyed the way Meyer has interwoven the fairytale elements within the sci-fi story.

Holy Cow!!! I definitely can't wait until Winter comes out next week!!!

Cress is Rapunzel... yup Rapunzel is trapped on a satellite in space all alone. I love how Marissa Meyer took these normal fairy tales and made them so much more awesome!! I mean Cinder is a cyborg/lunar, Scarlett is a kick butt woman who falls in love with a lunar/wolf(SPOILER if you haven't read Scarlet yet.), and Cress is locked in a Satellite however she is a computer genius!! 3 wonderful kick butt female leads not just Holy Cow!!! I definitely can't wait until Winter comes out next week!!!

I'm not going to drone on about previous characters already introduced I will try to stick to Cress, Jacin and Thorne. So Cress has been secretly helping Cinder succeed on her missions. She has been masking Thorne's ship so that no one could see them, the same way she hides the Lunar ships from Earth. She is supposed to be helping the evil Sybil find them so that the Lunar queen can kill Cinder. If you had read the previous books you would know that Sybil is pretty darn evil. She has been bringing Cress rations and such for years but never gives her anything to defend herself like a knife or scissors. So obviously Cress has hair that is super duper long!! Matter of fact Thorne brings it up during one of their net screen meetings.

Anyways so they decide to rescue Cress from her space prison. Of course unfortunate timing happens.. and Thorne is caught going onto her satellite. Then it's all life and death and they end up stranded on Earth and I can't tell you because it's a spoiler but something happens to Thorne and he has to rely on Cress for a while. I love how the whole time they are together Cress is like adore him.. and he's like no this is not unusual I am the first human you have met and I'm am very charming. LOL. While Thorne and Cress are being attacked Jacin and Sybil are attacking the Rampion. Fast forward after the scuffle ensues one of them is kidnapped off the ship and somehow they end up with Jacin who becomes their ally.

I am not super fond of Jacin at all... at least not in this book I may like him Winter though. My favorite couple still stands at Scarlet and Wolf. I can't do a long review on this because there would be to many spoilers. Only that Cress was adorable and Thorne melted my heart...

Such an amazing read I just couldn't put it down. I love how intricately the different plot lines are woven together. The characters have lots of depth. The world building in this book was better than in the previous to. Plus I love how it takes a look at a few problems we face today. Also the spins on each of the fairytales are quite unique. Cress is the third installment to the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was expecting a lot with this; I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL. Cress was beautifully written and it EXCEEDED my expectations that I had for it.

Cress is a lovely character and I love the connections to Rapunzel because they are there but they aren't screaming at you. Some of the aspects are very apparent and others you have to look for deeply and that is a very very nice touch.

I love Meyer's writing style and the way she writes in third person is one of the best I have seen in today's author pool. She has a way of weaving story lines together like nobody else. It is quite amazing to witness.

Meyer has written a masterpiece that includes action, romance, sci-fi, and so many aspects that really bring home the story. I adore her strong female characters. It is so difficult to find well-written strong female characters that are the main focus of the story, and she does this incredibly well!

The best thing is that her characters are very different! HALLELUJAH! Actually differentiated characters. It is such a nice change from normal novels today.

This book didn't have too many slow moments, and if there were, they were brief. I flew through this action-packed book. I, as an aspiring writer, recognize the difficulties of writing certain types of scenes, but especially fight scenes. I am astounded by Meyer's ability to describe them in such a vivid way.

Even though I am still behind on this series, I could not be more excited for Winter this fall! I have no doubt that it will be an epic conclusion to an already amazing series!

I one-hundred percent recommend this series to EVERYONE, but especially those who like retellings of fairy-tales and science fiction and fantasy twists. It is refreshing and different and I seriously commend Marissa Meyer and her capabilities as an author ...more
