Full Review on my blog!
After falling in love with Cinder, it was only a matter of time before I got my hands on the sequel, Scarlet, and Scarlet did not disappoint.
I love, LOVE this series so far! I have always loved fairy tales and this is probably one of the best re-tellings I've ever read! Marissa Meyer's writing is very good and she takes the classic fairy tales of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood and places them in a very unique world that makes sense to the actual story. The second book in the Lunar Chronicles … we meet Scarlet and Wolf, both drawn to each other but loath to trust. As she joins forces to unravel the mystery of her missing grandmother they meet Cinder! Only by working together will they stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana…

This was such a joy to read for me compared to Cinder (which followed the fairy tale a little too literally). Of course, Little Red Riding ...more

I'm really enjoying the Lunar Chronicle series. This is such a different take on the regular princess stories.
This second book is about Scarlet but don't worry it has Cinder in it too! Scarlet's grandma has gone missing and the police have been of no help. She is doing her normal drop off at a restaurant when she runs into a man named Wolf. He tries to get in Scarlet's good graces by helping her out. Of course as all of these princesses seem to be she very independent and doesn't have time for ...more

The first book in this series, i.e. Cinder ended up with a cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next, so without wasting anytime I started the next book, Scarlet the very next day. And, omg this book was awsome like the first one, I'm glad I read this without any delay.
“She did not know that the wolf was a wicked sort of animal, and she was not afraid of him.”
Scarlet is the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. The book picks up where it left off, but it opens up by introdu ...more

I loved Scarlet! Scarlet is an awesome sequel to Cinder. Cinder is still involved in the second book and is trying to escape. She meets Thorne and he helps her to escape. I love how the character of Scarlet is introduced and intertwined within Cinder's story. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

My thoughts: (spoilers)
Scarlet is annoying. I’m not a fan of characters who are motivated by anger or gets angry easily. After a while, their constant outbursts and temper tantrums turn me off and make me tune out of the story. Often this is because the character doesn’t have much depth and their anger is the only thing propelling them through the story.
Scarlet doesn’t have the depth we see in Cinder, who has to battle an identity crises, fight for her freedom, and ...more

I gave
4.5 stars last year with a half star off for the predictability of some of the storylines. Well, I could not stop thinking about that book all year. Ms. Meyer did an amazing job of incorporating a fairy tale into a sci-fi world.
I'd say there were some predictable bits in Scarlet as well, but by golly, I'm giving this one 5 stars because I know I'll be thinking about it until
is released. We learned some interesting tidbits about Cinder's past and got treated to a Meyerization (

I enjoyed this installment of the Lunar Chronicles possibly even more than the first. The switch to more differing viewpoints really helped immerse me in the broader world outside of the Eastern Commonwealth and the take on Red Riding Hood was well done, even managing to include hints of another tale. Greatly enjoyed! Can't wait to read Cress!

4 out of 5 stars.
This was a nice continuation of Cinder. I really like how the author connected the two plot lines of the novel together. I really like the characters and loves Wolff and found Caption Torn to be hilarious. I connect with the chapters but it took me a little bit to understand scarlet.
I don't know what it is but I feel that something was missing from this book. That is the reason I chose to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 but I did really enjoy it.
