The author did a grand job of raking through old archives and visiting the relatives of the victims families to write this book. The Osage Indians based in Oklahoma became rich when oil was struck on their land.
The government had basically stuck the native population on a useless piece of land and were livid when the area became lucrative. They didn’t have to work, as they were rich.
