I won this book from Goodreads! I'd heard a lot of positive reviews, but didn't think I'd care much for it. I took a chance when I saw it in the Goodreads giveaways, figuring that if I won it and didn't like it, I wasn't out money, a trip to the library, or a PBS credit. I'm glad I did!

I started this series when it first came out because I kept hearing how great it was. And while I did enjoy the first novel I enjoyed it less and less with each subsequent book. Reading these books has become more habit than anything else. I really have not enjoyed the last few books and this one was no exception. I sort of feel obliged at this point to see the story to its conclusion so it would be nice if it would finally conclude.

I struggled on my rating with this one. There were parts of the book I was really into, and loved. There were other parts that seemed to drag on and on and I had to force myself to keep listening. Bottom line was that this book was waaaaay too long. There were so many parts that I felt could be cut out to make it a better book. This book has so many unnecessary scenes. That does make it easy to skim, though. I could probably cut it down to 200 pages. But the TV show has made me interested again, though I find certain plot elements quite odd. Guess that's why it's a good fit for Starz. ...more
