This is another childhood favorite, revisited. Looooove this book. It is just a perfect fantasy of escaping from it all, living lightly off the land, and having wild animal friends. I first read this when I was somewhere around 11 and Sam's adventures as he ran away from home to live in the woods for a year (in the bottom of a giant tree!) really made an impression on me so that I remembered specific things about this book years later.
