Now that Jackie Collins has long shuffled off this mortal coil, Frieda McFadden is my guilty pleasure.
Yes, her books are formulaic in the extreme, and yes, it's frequently possible to figure out the culprit long before you finish the book. But they're absorbing, quick reads, with the added advantage that they're well-written (unlike, say, the odious Colleen Hoover).
