The premise is interesting: in the '80s, three sisters who've fled revolutionary Iran, open a restaurant in a tiny village in western Ireland (right where my grandparents are from, actually). Unfortunately the execution was sorely lacking. The characters were SUCH cliches: The Gossip At The Window, The Evil Businessman Who Runs the Town, The Handsome, Sensitive Boy. The recipes in this book and its sequel,were wonderful and made me want to seek out an Iranian restaurant. (Of course, I've had lots of baklava and similar pastries because I grew up attending a Syrian Methodist church and there are so many Greek bakeries in Boston.) But the recipes for soups and stews and rice seem to combine some of Middle Eastern elements with those we associate with Pakistan/India and I would love to try them.

If you like Maeve Binchy, or stories set in Ireland generally, you might like this. The Iranian characters make it more interesting than the typical such story, though.
There are recipes at the beginning of each chapter, some of which look interesting.
