Holy crap.
I can't remember the last time I was so invested in the characters of a book. Especially in characters that I didn't actually like. I mean, I kept thinking, I should look up June and Athena's books on Goodreads . . . they were that real. And the publishing ins and outs, the highs and lows for authors, the pressure to write the Next Big Thing . . . I absolutely HATED the unreliable narrator of this book from page one, and yet couldn’t put this down. And that was the whole point. I found this super compelling. Also, the narrator of the audiobook absolutely nailed the abject entitled narcissistic voice of the main character.
Apparently I don’t like books with icky protagonists. The story itself was fine, the writing good, I just don’t like not having someone to root for!
