A little too on the nose at times, but still utterly compelling. A satirical page-turner about race and publishing and white fragility.

There is So. Much. Buzz. about this book but honestly? This isn't the great read I'd hoped it'd be.
After a few years of seeing authors called out for not being sensitive enough to the culture/identities of their readers and characters, of watching books be pulled for the same issues, it was only time that this would become the topic of a book. This was highly entertaining for a long time and then kind of irksome (mostly when the narrative got really wrapped up in Twitter).
My biggest takeaway about the publishing industry is that writers spend a lot of time doing things that aren’t actually writing. It doesn’t sound like a very appealing lifestyle and seems to have little to do with storytelling.
