Again, I found myself absorbed in the story. As much as I love Lyra from the first book, the growing power of Will often overshadows Lyra's and I found myself as awed by his character as Lyra herself was. A short bridge between the first and third books, the authors intention with the story starts to become clear in this book. A quick read, I finished this one very quickly and was quite glad to have the third book on hand when I finished.

Shoulda stuck with Lyra as the main character. Crummy ending.

Every bit as enthralling as "The Golden Compass" - Pullman's imaginary world mirrors our own so closely but has such astonishing, beautiful and disturbing differences. Masterful.

Can't wait to read the third.
