The title: Happy Place. The cover: hot pink. The contents: STRESSFUL.
I love Emily Henry's books for their absolute realism. She sees the struggles. She knows the struggles. You feel like her heroines, while sexy and beautiful, have cellulite and get unfortunate zits the morning of important events. People suffer from hangovers, and blisters from dancing at clubs, and need to take ibuprofen and hydrate and can't remember where they left their favorite shirt. Emily Henry's prose is flowery and gorgeous. Julia Whelan's voice is at the same time both light and breathy, and deep and gravelly. I thought Happy Place was quite good (honestly, I'm always happy when I'm reading a book on the New York Times best seller list but I have to admit, I got a little tired of the constant "will they or won't they" with Harriet and Win. Sooo good. I read this because so many people loved it and it was part of a promo night for the St. Louis Cardinals. This is just the best tapestry of all kinds of love - self, friends, romantic, and family. What do you want? Who do you want to be? What/where/who is your home. I’m not a book reading cryer, but definitely misty eyed at this one.

Perfect vacation read. Took me less than a day to burn through it.
Light, atmospheric, tastes like summer and wears like an old cardigan. stress free adorable relationships that are maturing in all the right ways set against romantic domestic backdrops where no one breaks a sweat.
Exactly what I needed.
