The Giant Under the Snow (1968) kept coming up in things I’ve been reading and listening to, aligning with my interest in 60s/70s children’s books steeped in folklore and myth about real children in the real world caught up in the supernatural. I was underwhelmed. I enjoyed Gordon’s second book, The House on the Brink, more, which was an altogether stranger book and with better writing.
