It begins really well. Cat is an amazing young woman, about to start a bakery just as soo as she can, and one of the shining bits of the book is her friendship with her bakery's-to-be-accountant. Except, of course, she is supposed to marry the King. Even knowing that this can't end well (because, you know, Queen of Hearts), you hope that the spunky young woman path isn't totally unhappy. Enter Jest. Her brains pour out her ears, she becomes boring, life beats her down, she makes terrible choices
