This is only the second time I’ve read this Dessen book, the first being back in early high school, I believe. And, being a total Sarah Dessen dork, I’ve read all of her other books at least three times, with the exception of perhaps That Summer. (I’m not going to embarrass myself by sharing how many times I’ve read This Lullaby.) I remember not liking it all that well, so I slapped it with a three-star rating and didn’t look back.

This was the first Dessen book I ever read, probably very soon after it came out, and so it has been a very long time since I read it and I remembered nothing except the mom is basically Jane Fonda but without the acting career. Now I have so many feelings about pathological exercise and eating emotions when it comes to this book that I'm going to have to sit and write them down.

Very stereotypical YA except that it for once focused more about starting to accept and love yourself rather than finding romance (although of course that featured to). I wasn't blown away by it, but liked it well enough.

4/1/08 - I read this again for my teen book club. I love how light-hearted it was, and funny. The characters are memorable and even though it only took 2 days to read this (really, 2 hours--read it during my lunch breaks!), you grow to love them.

I've read better Sarah Dessen books. It was okay.
