Morgan is incredibly attracted to Cal, a new senior at her school, but so is her friend Bree. Cal invites both of them to what ends up being a Wicca ritual. Morgan is fascinated by Wicca, and some weird psychic events that happened to her after that night. But overshadowing her enthusiasm is a rivalry developing between her and Bree.

Like a cross between LJ Smith's Vampire Diaries and Harry Potter, I really like the Sweep series so far (the version I have is an omnibus of books 1-3). One thing that was a little disconcerting to me as both a writer and a reader; there is no denouement at the end of each book. It simply flows from one book to the next as if it were originally written as one huge book. Not a bad thing, as it leaves me jonesing for the next hit and worked well with the omnibus format.

this was definitely a quick read, but not because it was "easy" (although, it wasn't difficult either). I was driven on by the main character's discovery of witchcraft and the history of the religion. The author has created a very detailed history and it works. Also, the character is beginning to discover something within herself and that was captivating. I loved her interest in herbs and spells, because it was something I found myself relating to. I look forward to reading the rest.
