This is our new favorite. i didn't think something could top LITTLE OWL LOST for sheer cuteness and cleverness, but Haughton has done it. After one reading, my toddler had the rhythm of this down, and now when I read it to him, he supplies the "shh!" Such a fun book! ...more

Fantastic use of color and a minimal, repetitive text. It proceeds in shades of blue, purple, and black, except for the bright bird that the four characters follow. A gentle beam of blue light shines down each time the bird is pictured, and the four figures repeat their sneak attack on the bird, comically unsuccessful each time. The littlest one takes no part except for his repeated, "hello, birdie." Great pacing and page turns, with a fun twist as the tables are turned and the hunt abandoned. U ...more
