I began teaching a reading group today that is reading this book in their class. So, I read the whole thing in one sitting.
I like this book because it showed how much Native Americans can teach white people. I could use the past tense, but I think there is still a lot for us white people to learn.
I also liked the story because a 13 year old boy was left alone to protect the family homestead for several months.
This is a story of courage and honor and of coming of age.
