This was a really interesting book and not quite what I was expecting (what was I expecting? Now I'm not sure). It's a full-on fairy tale with a lot of music and a surprising amount of Christina Rosetti (I just picked up the second one and it opens with "Remember," which is a poem my older sister set to music, so I'm expecting it's going to make me cry JUST LIKE THE SONG THANKS CORA). There's a lot about art and family, particularly siblings. There's the mythology of the changing of the seasons

For a while this was a five star book...but it started to irk me that it's basically just Labyrinth with musicians.

I wanted to like this more, but I spent most of the book kind of confused more than anything. I’ll read the sequel because I’m rooting for Elisabeth, but meh for the most part.
