I kept hearing how much people enjoyed this book, but I just didn't think it was for me. I knew there was graphic violence and rape scenes in this, and it just didn't seem like something I'd really enjoy reading. But it was my book club's pick this month, so I decided to suck it up and finally read it. Turns out everyone else was right and I really didn't enjoy it.

It took me so long to read this book because my husband and I watched the whole Swedish trilogy before I finished the first book. We stayed up too late some evenings so I didn't have time to read!
I had seen two of the movies before, but it was interesting to see the difference in the book and the movie. Of course, the book was better, but the movie(s) were quite well done.

This was actually a 3.5 star book for me. I had a hard time getting into it, but once I got over 100 pages in, the story really started to happen for me. A well-writtten whodunnit (and wha'd the whodunnit do exactly?) with several sideplots, interesting, believable characters, tremendous detail and a twist or two (or three?) in the tail. I saw one major twist coming for most of the book, but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the book as I still wanted to know why that particular twist was comin

These books were not my thing at all. The violence against women was so over the top that I couldn't help feel like the author was relishing it despite the purported mission of the protagonists to fight against it. Despite my criticisms, I was drawn in to the first and couldn't put it down. I started on the second right away and found I liked it even less, mainly because the main character seemed to morph into someone else all together (boob job? Come on!). Plot-wise, I felt like I was being str

I had no expectation when I bought the book, I was prompted more by the hype. The intro couldn't hold my attention more than a few minutes - but as the story goes deeper and pace higher, suffice to say in general this is a pretty engaging book though you can't avoid the impression that it's "Hollywood-ized". The ending is rather refreshing. (And it IS creepy in some parts).

I thought this book started out a little slow (and confusing) but kept with it because many friends had said it was such a good book. I'm glad I did...after the first couple of chapters or so, the book takes off and it was hard to put down at night. I liked the book so much when I finished it, I ran out to get the second book in the series.

totally entertaining--but then again total male fantasy...gets to have the perfect sexual non commitment relationship with his life partner, but attractive women right and left fall at his feet? he's kind of a jerk. so that bit was distracting from the fun of the mystery.

It did take me forever to care about anyone in the book, but once it picked up I couldn't put it down. I'll probably read the next one, but I'm not dying to find out what happens next.
