The Tail of Emily Windsnap is, I think, the first audiobook I've ever listened to all the way through. I've heard some in other people's cars, I think - mostly people with young kids. This one caught my eye at the bookstore, and I've been trying to cut down on my reading, because reading = eyestrain, so I'm trying to get audiobooks from the library when the option exists. Somewhat amusingly, this one ended with a plug for audiobooks in general by the narrator of the Harry Potter books.

A very cute book that I'd recommend for children in grades 5 and up, about an 11 year old girl who discovers that ooops, she's a mermaid. What she discovers after that makes this book so readable. ...more

Very disappointing, but that may just be because I was anticipating liking this book. It's written more for a tweeny-audience, and I don't think it makes the effort to be a children's book which many adult readers would especially enjoy. It is rather cute and interesting for what it is. ...more

Enjoyable on audiobook, good narrator. Great beach read/ summer read for the 9 to 12 year old set. There were some flimsy holes in the story that make it harder to enjoy if you are much older than 12, but I can see why this continues to be popular at our library. The girl can turn into a mermaid- how cool is that?!
