What impressed me most about Zusak's tone and style in this book is that it is so completely different from The Book Thief. He is a gifted story teller.
The beginning of the book feels very stalkerish, but I don't know how else Ed would complete his good deeds. The overall theme is helping strangers and improving their lives, be it by rescuing them from an abusive relationship, giving them confidence, or buying them ice cream.
