emily seems to have everything going for her: a loving husband ben, an adorable young son, and she is pregnant again. so why does she decide to walk away from it all, leaving her wedding ring in crewe station and move into a grotty flat* with too many roommates still in the slapdash stages of their lives - where they are still figuring it out and living in gleeful squalor?

I read this a month ago, and I think I've already forgotten the big reveal. It was decently written, but, as I recall, she was making a whole lot out of nothing.....

There was some good stuff here. All the little details are so well done--how to leave your life behind, what it feels like to fall in love. But the structure is a hot mess.

I was excited to read this "psychological thriller". I adore those books.
Usually. I so wanted to like this book. I can enjoy books with unlikeable characters. Usually. I know I am repeating myself. Anyway the book begins with Emily walking out on her husband and child. She finds a friend and a "filthy" place to live, new job, new life. I guessed why she left her family, but no I guessed incorrectly.
Emily was so unlikeable, actually almost everyone in the entire book was just ugh.

Suspenseful and heartbreaking, you will be turning every page, desperate to figure out Emily's secret, the one so terrible she would leave her family, her life, and start anew. With a little bit of wordplay, the secret is left a mystery until the end although you may have guessed it along the way. Her sojourn is a bit extreme and fantastical but perhaps not so when the secret is revealed. Told through multiple points of view and engaging narratives, it's a gripping read, one that you won't want
