being as how I'm no longer in grade school, there is not, in fact, a requirement to persevere in trying to get into a boring book. that's what I'm telling myself, anyway, because I find it near impossible to put down a book unfinished. 50 pages in, and we have one nonsensically muddy fight, some vague mystical powers, some even vaguer meaningful looks from the elders of this scooby gang (and wtf? isn't being a teacher all about teaching your charges rather than withholding info in the midst of a

I expected so much more from this book...I thought it would be a hip-hop Buffy. I was sadly mistaken. Maybe the next book gets better, but I don't know if I want to waste my time to find out.
