We Were Liars is mysterious, sad, and ultimately tragic. I think it would make a great movie, with lots of dread and foreboding.
I didn't love it, because I was dreading the reveal. I didn't know what had happened, but you could tell it was going to be bad. I loved the descriptions, the private island, with the unthinkingly privileged family enjoying their summer idylls, with everything "perfect" yet not perfect at all.

Ok, if you're thinking about reading this book just read it but don't read any reviews or blurbs or excerpts. In fact, you probably shouldn't even read this review but since you are I promise to be super careful.

I should have waited to spoil this book for myself, but I just needed to know what happened! It turns out that the last 10% of this book was acknowledgments and such, though. And I read spoilers at 80% haha. Joke's on me, I guess....
Overall, this was a fairly decent read. As others have stated, I didn't really relate to the main character, Cadence (Cady, for short). Honestly, though, I didn't relate to any of the characters in the entire story. It kind of reminded me of the Bush family, all clan ...more
