This keeps showing up in Best of lists for 2014, so I had to read it and find out for myself.

To my surprise, I read it in just a few hours.

I am not the intended audience for this book.

I'm a 47 year old mom who enjoys reading YA sometimes. Books like The Hunger Games, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, and Harry Potter, have cross over appeal for all ages. This book? Does not.

This is an excellent book if you're young, maybe between maybe 13 to 15 years old, maybe a little older. I think I might have love

I read this ARC via Netgalley.

Cady, Johnny, Mirren, and Gat have been spending their summers together on Martha's Vineyard since they were 8. The first three are all grandchildren of wealth, while Gat is the son of Johnny's mother's boyfriend. When you pick up a book solely because it's been heralded as having a great twist ending, then you spend the whole book trying to figure out what the twist is, you can't criticize the ending for being too predictable.

Or at least, that's what I keep telling myself, since I guessed the ending before starting the book.

The sometimes artsy prose annoyed me in the beginning, but once I got past that it was a good story with a great twist.
