As the stars suggest, I loved this book! I am not a gamer, nor have I ever been, but that didn't matter. The characters were likable, the dialogue and writing fun, the plot fresh and compelling, and I was on the edge of my seat as I read. I really enjoyed the throw-back references to the 80s and 90s pop-culture; maybe because I am in my 50s. I'm giving it 5 points because it completely captured me and the writing stayed interesting. I'm not a video-game player, so I didn't get many of the references, but the premise of the book and the draw of a virtual reality was believably portrayed. It's easy to imagine the story cinematically, with the dystopian civilization as a backdrop. The virtual world was thoroughly described...and engaging. I could see how it would be more inviting than reality.

It is a classic quest story with a huge amount of 80's geek trivia in matters as diverse as movies, music, anime and of course video games.

Just an all out fun read. I could not put this book down, read in in a frenzy inside of two days stay up far to late. Wonderful!

I'm not a video game player at all. But despite that I found this story quite fun to read.
