This was one I read over and over again. Read it the for the first time around the time I read the book 1984; I was a young teen. I've always enjoyed this one better than 1984, although I believe that they’re both brilliant. I'm not wild about the ending, but I wasn't so critical of it that it ruined the book for me. Really interesting sci-fi about a dystopian world that's perhaps more pertinent now that it was when I first read it/when it was written.

This is really well told--I found the writing absolutely amazing. And as a dystopia, it is absolutely thought provoking, and I'm sure it was ground-breaking for its time. But...I despised all of the characters, the women characters were absurdly drawn, and I was disgusted with the attitude Huxley takes toward his constructed world. I found myself arguing with the book *constantly*. I just don't see the world the same way Huxley does. So while I grant that this is an important piece of literature

What can I say about this book that hasn't already been said? I read this book because Reza and I decided that we needed to read the books we already should have. He takes her to visit the savage peoples of New Mexico who aren’t engineered. Bernard & Lenina find Noble Savage & bring him back to civilized world of engineered people & flying cars (oh, so THAT’S where my flying car went). Lenina loves Savage. Savage loves Lenina. Savage is, you know, Savage, so doesn’t understand sex is go

Ug, stab me in the eye. Repetitive, boring. Repetitive, boring. Repetitive, boring. Saying something three times in a row doesn't make it more interesting. And using the word "indefatigable" three times in three chapters? Don't get me started. I TOTALLY could have finished my NaNoWriMo novel if I repeated myself three times often enough.
