AW | 4 comments Please help, this is driving me nuts. I don't remember much about this book, but it was a book requirement while attending high school.

**Possible Spoilers**
It is a book set in the future where people are no longer created from intercourse, but from test tubes. They then grow up and party a lot, have unprotected sex as a way of life, and flock to the nearest abortion clinic if anything happens. These clinics are on every corner or almost as common...

I wish I could give more info. I just thought about it one day and I cannot remember for the life of me anything more about this book. Does anyone know what book I am talking about?

Thanks!!!

When were you in high school? What did the cover look like?

Isabel (kittiwake) | 132 comments Not Brave New World, as the women's Malthusian belts control their fertility perfectly and prevent them from ever getting preganant, so there are no abortions at all.

AW | 4 comments I was in high school between 2000-2004.... I have no idea what the cover looked like. I wish I could give you more to go off of. :/

AW | 4 comments Brave New World sounded familiar so I searched it and the story actually sounds very familiar, also. I am going to obtain that book and be sure.... and find out where the clinics come I to play. I will update as soon as I can!

Daisy (daisylanepaul) You might also look into a short story by Kurt Vonnegut called 2BR02B. It takes place in a futuristic world in which disease has been eradicated, and population is carefully controlled using both abortion or infanticide (I can't remember clearly), and government-assisted suicide.

Can't remember if there's anything about frequent unprotected sex, but it's definitely possible.

Library Lady 📚 | 56 comments I also immediately thought Brave New World. Is it possible you are combining it in your memory with another book?

The Handmaid's Tale is another futuristic one about reproductive issues (though I don't think it fits b/c only certain women ever get pregnant). Vonnegut is a good place to look, too.

AW | 4 comments It is possible that I am, but high school was so long ago... I HAVE obtained the book and started reading the first several chapters and I am 99% positive Brave New World is the book I was looking for. I have not reached the part that I may have mistaken for an abortion clinic yet, however. Thank you so much for helping me find this book!
