On paper, Ofred's miserable existence in the blighted world of the near future should make for dull reading but, this book is alive with the rich inner life of it's main character, her acts of small rebellion, her refusal to be downtrodden, her ability to cope no matter what is thown at her. It is very readable and convincingly written – I was was quickly drawn into the story.
