This was really well written, really engaging, really suspenseful, and really intense. It's not super long, but it took me awhile to read because I kept needing to take breaks from it.

There are a bunch of interconnected stories, that primarily revolve around Latinx gang members during the Rodney King Riots. There's a lot of people just straight up getting murdered a lot. Thought this book was far too violent to get any higher rating. It was told in different voices in the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict. The brutal killings, crude language, home-boy language - all made it a difficult read. If it weren't for the challenge I would have quit after page 20. ...more

I really enjoyed all the ways the stories tied into each other, how it highlighted segments of the population so many want to ignore and told their stories.
