Itäranta's THE WEAVER is a shimmering, powerful web of a book that will leave readers entranced. With sturdy characters and a magnificently-created island world full of poetic detail, THE WEAVER features disarmingly beautiful prose that is reminiscent (but not at all derivative) of LeGuin's feminist fantasy. Like LeGuin, Itäranta prompts readers to think about socio-political issues in our own world all while painting a vividly-imagined fiction. Absolutely love.
