I’ve long been a big fan of Kingslolver and I think this may be her best yet. Demon (Damon) is a youngster in the Kentucky hills, living with his single, alcoholic mother in a trailer, where she makes one bad choice after another. It’s the 1980s and 90s and the opioid epidemic is just waiting to snatch a youngster like Demon. I had been avoiding this book because it is inspired by "David Copperfield", not my favorite Dickens work. Not reading this sooner was a big mistake; "Demon Copperhead" is the best thing I have read in years. I urge anyone currently committing my error of delay to pick it up immediately!
