This book was just "eh" - it wins with the wonderful witty quippy dialogue between Anthony (said viscount) and Kate (older sister of the most beautiful eligible young woman in society, and said viscount's original target), but in the end, I can barely remember the book. The obligatory "misunderstanding" portion of the romance just felt so silly, so very obligatory (he thinks he's going to die young, but he knows she'd never understand, blah blah blah) - come on, Ms Quinn, you can do better than ...more

2nd in the Bridgerton series, this one focuses on the eldest Bridgerton-Bad Boy Anthony. We've seen him as the biggest rake around, and now it's time for him to settle down. What he is not looking for though is love. Enter sisters Edwina and Kate. Edwina is beautiful, and seems to be a great match for Anthony- he just has to get into her older sisters good graces. That seems to be a tough job, especially when unexpected feelings start to catch.

Where have I seen this movie before? Oh yeah, almost every screwball comedy ever. Except the shenanigans include stomping on people's hands and kicking them, and a fair amount of steamy sex. I'll give Quinn props for letting Anthony be vulnerable. Minus points for not knowing that in the 18th century pink was not a girl's color. I enjoyed it, but as I was reading it, I felt like Quinn is smart enough to write better books. ...more

Quinn does write very fun and witty characters even if the situations and beliefs that they talk themselves into are a wee bit much. He decides that as an old man of 29, he should marry but creates a rule that he must not love the woman he marries. Hearing that Edwina Sheffield is the lady of the season, he decided she will do even if it requires approval from her a ...more

This is the second in the series of novels about the Bridgerton family.
While Anthony is the 'hero' of this novel, I'm more excited about the casting of the series 2 of the show.
I think I'll read more of the series.

I think I liked this book better. Anthony became a very likable character, I think he was kind of of jerk on the previous season. But he really won me over. His playfulness and dedication to family.

One reason to read a series of books is the satisfaction of revisiting familiar characters. This series is devoted to the Bridgerton family as each member is married off. There’s very little variation in the plots. There’s always a happily-ever-after. There’s a bit of comedy, some witty banter, and unlikely premarital sex. It’s difficult to remember any details once the book is closed or the audio has finished. This on
