Leave it to Julia Quinn to make you fall in love in a few chapters!

I've come to realize, ladies and gentlemen, that Julia Quinn's novels are an oasis for both my mind and my soul. She takes you by the hand, and with her magical writing she opens a portal to another era, to a world of etiquette and courting and balls and lavish gowns, where the devastatingly handsome sworn batchelors end up falling in love with the smart girls, the ones who are not admired for their dazzling beauty, but can chal

Short and quick, I liked The Viscount Who Loved Me okay, but I wasn't much impressed with Anthony. I didn't like that he was going to sleep with his ex mistress, just to get Kate out of his mind. It left a sour taste in my mouth. I liked Kate and I liked her family, Anthony just wasn't the greatest heroes.

“Love's about finding the one person who makes your heart complete. Who makes you a better person than you ever dreamed you could be. Its about looking in the eyes of your wife and knowing all the way to your bones that she's simply the best person you've ever known.”

I enjoyed the first 'Bridgertons' book a lot, but this one.... this one I absolutely loved. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite troupes, but I've never read a historical romance enemies to lovers book, and let

Read for the URR New Year 2018 Reading Challenge: Animal Lovers' Romance. (Well. Okay, not really. But there's a fat corgi, Newton, and he's by far the best thing this book has to offer).

Do you remember that scene in Fight Club where Edward Norton tells us how much fun Brad Pitt has inserting porn into cartoon movie reels? I think something like this is happening with Julia Quinn's Bridgertons series. You think you're reading a charmingly sweet, witty and sexy historical romance; then all of a s

This is a re-read/listen. Wonderful again. I fell in love with this series about ten years ago and have read and reread them many times over the years... I adore them all. And now with the new Netflix production up and running there is more interest and more pictures of the characters.

Pure, unadulterated entertainment! I can tell I am going to love this series. The author has a talent for writing amusing dialogue and her characters are all so very charming.
One very interesting thing about this particular story was that Ms Quinn did not stoop to stereotypes. The stepmother was not wicked but was much loved and her daughter and step daughter also got along together really well. It was a nice touch.
The Bridgerton family are marvellous, always bickering and teasing each other b
Enemies to lovers? Sign me up! From the start, I really enjoyed Kate and Anthony's characters. I loved how Anthony was an overbearing older brother in book one and that prologue in this book broke my heart for him. Kate is only in her early 20s, but she's already seen as a spinster and she's more focused on finding her younger sister a husband. When she hears that Anthony is on the hunt for a wife, she wants that rake nowhere near her sister! It was so fun watching them butt heads as Anthony tri ...more

Swoon. What is it about Historical books that I love? The forbidden? The hidden touch? The innocence? The arrogance of the Hero? Everything really, especially if they are well written. And Julia Quinn sure knows how to write a good Historical.

Bloody hell, he didn't even like the woman. She was too bossy, too opinionated, too quick to jump to conclusions. She wasn't even beautiful ...

I adore these high-brow aristocrats who think they rule the roost. They think they will never fall in love. Th

Another wonderfull story from Julia Quinn and the Bridgertons!!!

This time was Antony's turn and it was equal interesting and pleasant as Daphne's!!!
Antony is the older of all the Bridgertons and he has the title of viscount.
I will admit that in the first book, i didn't like him very much because he was making Simon and Daphne's life really hard, but i forgive him because he is her older brother and he was just worried about her well-being...

It’s annoying when a book starts out great and then leaves you feeling lukewarm by the end of it.

I loved how this started. The introduction to the characters were great. Julia Quinn writes some of the best and most wittiest lines. Her dialogue are always on par and the chemistry between the hero and the heroine is always palpable. At first.

But then they got together and my interest in their relationship started to wane. Probably because we didn’t get many moments where they lived their happily-

This was a really great historical with a silly side. It's been a long time since I've read a Julia Quinn novel, but I was dying for a good regency romance and this one really hit the spot.

Some of the situations were just funny, which I wasn't expecting. But it had some really great conflict that kept me invested. The hero is determined to marry the Belle of the Ball. But it's her annoying, meddling sister - who is trying to keep them apart - who he can't help be more interested in.

A love/hate

Overall Opinion: This was a cute hate-to-love type story with some fun witty banter. I liked both characters, and I appreciated their progression into deeper feelings. I can see how this is on the GR list for top historical romance books. I am, as many of my followers know, a greedy reader though. This ending felt way too rushed and not nearly enough for me. I wanted way more! I wanted to experience them growing their family and the H becoming the amazing father that his dad was! I thin

Where have these books been all my life!

I love Anthony and Kate so much. I haven’t read many “enemies to lovers” type tropes, but this one is my absolute favorite! Julia just has a way of writing that I’m becoming addicted to, and I’m afraid She’s going to spoil me as I read other books. This book gave my feels feels as I witnessed both Anthony and Kate work through fears and demons they had in their closets from tragic circumstances in their lives. Still just as good the second time around.

Enemies to lovers!

Anthony is looking for a respectable lady to marry. He doesn't want to fall in love because he assumes he's destined to die young just like his father did. He wants a wife to bear him children and he'll leave her well cared for once he's passed on.

Kate has a younger half-sister who she adores. Since Kate is on the older end of ' marrying age' she has decided she will focus on finding the perfect gentleman

First, thank you to LEILA for doing the Bridgertons with me! It's always wonderful reading with you. 🥰🥰

So this is my second of JQ's books and I have to say that she excels at writing relationships between siblings. The dynamics within the Bridgerton family are some of the best I've ever read. That game of Pall-mall (which is the precursor to croquet) was SO funny - I loved every word!

I'm not quite as enamored with the dynamics between her couples though. While the i

Three guesses as to why this just went on my top-tbr?! 😌
Viscount Anthony Bridgerton feels he’s running out of time, thinking he would die young like his father, decided to finally marry and sire an heir before his young death. When he picks out the beauty of the season, he feels everything would go smoothly, he would have a agreeable marriage with no risk to his heart….that is until he meets his intended’s older sister. Kate Sheffield will not have a well-known rake like Anthony anywhere near her sister! Doing everything in her power to prevent a mar ...more

So... The Viscount Who Loved Me. The name itself is a spoiler, I believe. Because Anthony is so fucking sure he can control whether he falls in love or not, and Kate just bloody knows no man, especially a handsome and rakish Viscount, could ever fall in love with her. And so it begins, as I eye roll for the first but not last time.

But let's be fair. I have never and probably never will claim not to be able to enjoy a cheesy, stereotypical and predictable romance. Sometimes I j
I absolutely adored this, from start to finish. I don't know why I waited so long to read this. I swooned my way through it, and if I wasn't swooning, I was laughing. <3 I loved Kate and Anthony and all the hilarious Bridgertons and very much look forward to more! ...more

This was such a fun historical romance with the enemies to lovers trope (there is also another trope involved but I think it's too close to a spoiler to include in this review).

Along with loving the two main characters (individually and as a couple), this book was hilarious! Seriously the humour was endless whether it be between the duo or the Bridgerton family members.

I also really liked the inclusion and depth of the impact of grief, loss, and trauma in the story. I thought it was very realis

5 stars – Historical/Regency Romance

Although I didn't enjoy this quite as much as The Duke and I, it's a heartwarming, funny, and charming romance with an amusing H/H. I really disliked Anthony in The Duke And I, and I thought he was an overbearing, judgmental jerk most of the time. So I wasn't sure how I'd f

Anthony just knows he’s going to die young. He’s father and uncle did, so why wouldn’t he?
So because of that, the only things he wants he’s a loveless marriage just to provide an heir to whom he can give his title of Lord. So, when he dies, his future wife won’t suffer because there was never love between them. (Yes, freaking amazing logic here!)
He already has a girl picked out: she is perfect for the role and he knows that there’s no way he ends up falling for her. There’s o

I was first introduced to Anthony Bridgerton, the Viscount of the book, in “The Duke and I.” Frankly put, I thought him a hypocrite of the highest nature, and was hesitant to read a book all about him but was looking forward to learning more about him. I didn’t like him much then and I still don’t after reading his book. After reading this book it didn’t fully help my feelings for him but I understand him better. Kate’s character was more complex than I originally expected her to be. Both Anthon ...more

"I'm thinking about getting married."
Benedict Bridgerton, who had been indulging in a habit his mother detested—tipping his chair drunkenly on the back two legs—fell over.
Colin Bridgerton started to choke.
Luckily for Colin, Benedict regained his seat with enough time to smack him soundly on the back, sending a green olive sailing across the table.
It narrowly missed Anthony's ear.”
