I finished this earlier today. I think this might be one of those books that I might need to think about for a while before I settle on a star rating. Right now, I feel that it is somewhere between a 3 and a 4. Also, I had really high expectations based on Shadows of the Wind which is a favorite of mine. Overall, this is a Faustian tale about an author named Daniel Martinez. “The Shadow of The Wind” is one of my favorite books, so I was excited to read this one. Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s lyrical writing and beautiful descriptions are equally captivating in “The Angel’s Game” and I happily immersed myself in the story. Once again, Carlos Ruiz Zafon created a series of intriguing characters and events that made it hard to put the book down—at least for the first half of the book. I'm not sure what I think of this book. I love the Shadow of the Wind by the same author. This is the story of David Martin a writer in Barcelona who ends up accepting a very dangerous deal with a publisher no one has ever heard of. the story started out normal but then it got odd and I really don't know about the ending. The book leaves you hanging about what is and isn't real in it. Interesting but not as good as his previous book in my opinion. ...more
