“My name is Lioness. Lioness Lazos? Who are you?”
I am a fan of Peter S. Beagle and I think he can do no wrong, as far as writing fantasy stories go. I’ve read all his novels and most of his short stories, and he never disappointed me. I don’t even mind his curious decision here to name his character Lioness, something I would normally label silly and an affectation, especially for a waitress who works in a family restaurant on Gardner Island, in Puget Sound.

I bought this book on a recommendations and for me, it was a miss. I am not the audience for this book because, no matter how well it's written (and it is), it was a sad read for me and I did not get any joy from it.
