Such a delightful read!

I admire the writing style of Terry Pratchett and the way he combines it with humour. This book makes fun of inequality between men/women, satirizing our society’s problems by the way of witches and wizards. It made me laugh. Not just a fantasy novel, but much more.

‘I’m not a lady, I’m a witch’ ... think I will start greeting people this way:-)

This is the first Terry Pratchett I have read other than Good Omens. It seems the snarky comments and phrases I loved in that may have come from Pratchett rather than Gaiman. This book is filled with great phrases and made me snicker constantly. "It was the kind of storm that suggests that the whole sky has swallowed a diuretic." The story is not that amazing but the way it is told generates such strong visuals in the imagination that reading it is a lot more enjoyable than it should be.

It's taken me a while to dip my toes into the Discworld but I'm so glad that I have. Funny and creative with endearing characters and real heart. I wish I'd started earlier!

I can't wait to read more Discworld but the sheer number of books in this series is rather overwhelming and, the completionist that I am is quite terrified! I think I will continue with the 'witches' books and just take it from them. ...more

Hilariously funny and makes some good points about gender roles and expectations without being too preachy. An excellent introduction to Granny Weatherwax and witchery.
