Read for my Page Turners book group in June and July. I have to say that this is another book that surprised me. I thought it would be almost totally about sword fights and companions (One for all and all for one) but really it was more about a young d'Artagnan, who wants to become a musketeer. To my way of thinking he is really the main protagonist in this story. I'm glad I read the book (another one to check off the 1001 list) but I had a difficult time following it. The Audible is Outstanding

Narrated by the eloquent John Lee, the Three Musketeers is a work of art.
I was not only educated, but blissfully entertained. By far, this is the one classic that is still relevant - believable characters who experience the gamut of emotions: greed, mistrust, and hatred, but also charity, honor and love. I only wish that the positive character traits that the Musketeers exhibit were MORE in evidence today.

Gostei do livro e das aventuras mas não porque os mosqueteiros eram galantes heróis a salvar o reino. De facto, os mosqueteiros são umas pessoas que provavelmente detestaria se os conhecesse e a pessoa com mais interesse (as pessoas na verdade) são a Milady e Constância, seguidas de Richelieu... O tratamento das mulheres é. Perturbante (estou a julgar o d'Artagnan severamente porque o texto não o fez o suficiente na minha opinião) mas não sei bem o que esperava nesse aspecto. ...more
