This is a re-read. I always have the intention to read this every year, but I often don't get the opportunity to read more than a couple of pages.

12/4/2023: I finished this again. I read this rather slowly so that I could really enjoy it.

I already knew the basics of the story from seeing several movie versions. I found the ending a little too light and the transformation a bit silly in the book.

My first read of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I have watched movies of A Christmas Carol and have liked them so decided it was time to red the story.

Charles Dickens had a brilliant facility with language. He spins lovely, funny, engaging sentences that make me wish for an ease with words like his. I love the way he tells the story. Close to the beginning of this book there was a paragraph describing Scrooge that was so vivid and clever, I laughed out loud causing my husband to question what I had heard.
