This my first Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Book; my first Sherlock Holmes.
I am still trying to figure out how much I liked it. So far, not very much.
Holmes seems a little pompous; Watson seems a little dull.
One thing I did like: the entire affair from start to finish, what happened and how they figured out what happened, was summarized in the last chapter. It confirmed that I had figured out what happened correctly. Affirmation... ah!!

Personally, I grew up watching crime shows and Holmes reminds me of my father (yes, you read that correctly). I am currently making my way through the Sherlock Holmes omnibus and was afraid to read this one due to rumored ghosts. There are some Halloween elements, so I guess it is perfect for October. Watson narrating did throw me out of the book a few times. It was off-putting. It is interesting how he weaves the atmosphere. It is like he creates a world for Holmes that is separate from the cas
