Back in 1990 I discover that I said I would read this again if I had the energy, but Emily Bronte had exhausted me. Interestingly I have never read it again. At the time I was very taken by how all consuming the blackness of the romantic vision was - the hate blossoming from love - the cruelty that seems not credible at first because of the blinding beauty.
