Scary short story. Very appropriate for Spooky Month (October).

Characters include

The Narrator - whose presence is requested by Roderick Usher. Roderick is very ill and asks his "best and only friend" to visit him.

Roderick Usher - one of the last two members of the Usher clan. He is a recluse and sick in both body and mind. His sister is dying and this adds to his unstable mental state.

Madeline Usher - twin sister of Roderick who is dying and when she briefly appears seems to be in a trance.
